about

The first deep co-write between the pair. Marc sent Iain the basic shape of the sung with a scratch lyric. Iain picked up on the theme, and sent this back to Marc to deliver with his signature soulful style. Marc kept the basic structure demo together, with Iain laying deep into the groove on drums and adding backing vocals. Friend and collaborator Robert Baird then added the Philly soul touches that make this a smooth, open soulful ballad of heartbreak.

lyrics

Hey, my sister!..1…2…3…
Boy, I miss you, like I’m lost at sea.
I’ve been drifting;
I’ve been drowning in a bottle of grief.

Hey, my sister!..4…5…6…
Show me your star-help me find my fix.
I’ve been drifting;
I’ve been downing in a bottle of grief.

All the plans that I took as read,
I charted out and laid the course.
Scattered out on horseman winds
Four ways blown.

Hey my sister!..A…B…C…
There’s no solid ground beneath my feet.
I’m still drifting;
Yes, I’m drowning in a bottle of grief.

Don’t know where I’m going,
Just where I’ve been.
So I charted out and set the course.
Fighting undercurrents
Trying to find my shore.

Show your star, my sister.

Hey, my sister!..1…2…3…
Before I met you, I was lost at sea.
